I assume that you're reading this because you love Community, unless you're my Aunt or my friend Kate, who'll read this because they love me. If you are a fan and you have a twitter account, the delay of season 4 must be old news by now. If you haven't heard, here's Entertainment Weekly’s article on the matter. This depressing news has inspired me to express how much I love this show in the best way possible, a list of favorites with clips and polls. Before we begin the interactive portion of this post I’d like to give a brief rundown of how I came to love Community and why.
My friend told me I should start watching the show but, ultimately it took a tweet from Karen Gillan (Amy Pond - Doctor Who) to make me stop what I was doing and start watching immediately. I should have listened to my friend straight away and it was on my to do list but it wasn't a priority until I read that tweet from Amy Pond herself referencing the show and more specifically, Inspector Spacetime. I’m glad she did because Community is amazing. It is smart, funny and inventive and it is really hard to swallow the fact that this show is in jeopardy while Two and a Half Men is still on the air (I’m sorry if you like it, I am just not a fan).Without further ado, let’s delve into what makes Community great.
There are so many things to love about Community so I had to narrow this down. There are five categories and I've chosen five favorites for each category. I told you in my 90's post, picking favorites gives me agita. Narrowing each category down to five options was very hard and picking one from each was even harder so, in the case of a tie, I used random.org to pick the winner for me. If there is anything I didn't list, please leave a comment because I love talking about this show.Favorite Parody
Basic Lupine Urology
The explanation is not the issue!
The art of the parody is where Community really shines and they are all great so I had to go to random.org here. This episode was a perfect parody of Law & Order. Every element was there, from the blue collar workers finding the “victim” to that unmistakable Dung! Dung! Troy and Abed as the detectives were so good and they just played it so straight while wearing an Inspector Spacetime badge and a Spiderman tie. Britta’s role may have been small but, it fit her character well. Annie may be majoring in health care administration but, she made a pretty good lawyer. I especially enjoyed the outlandish portion of her cross examination. “Is that why you hit your wife? Withdrawn. Is that why you dink and pop pills? Withdrawn.” Also Starburns’, death was a surprise and I didn’t think it was the last of him. I was happy to be proven right at the end of the season.

Favorite Holiday Episode
Regional Holiday Music
We're a shoe-in for regionals, right?
This episode is streets ahead in my book. It’s also a parody but, it is a great Holiday episode. Community’s holiday episodes are always special, the use of the familiar old Christmas special stop motion animation in Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas and the ode to zombie flicks in Epidemiology were both great. This episode is a favorite because my daughter's a Gleek and so I have a pretty good idea of the format of that show and this is an excellent parody. She was asleep when I first watched this episode and I wanted to wake her up so she could watch it with me but, it was a school night. We did watch it together the next day and again and again. All of the songs are on our her iPod and my iPhone. This episode not only includes awesome musical numbers, it also features a little Inspector Spacetime and my favorite Abed line, “I guess I just like liking things.” Troy and Abed rap and sing in this and Annie’s “Teach me How to Understand Christmas” was satirical gold. One of my favorite lines though, has to be the Dean’s, “Oh, Britta’s in this?” I don’t know why I love it so much, probably because Jim Rash is a genius and delivered that line perfectly.

Digital Estate Planning
What kind of game is this?
As a player of video games past, I thought this was spot on. The sounds, graphics, game mechanics, the way the characters jumped around like crazy (Troy). If it weren’t for all the racism, I can imagine a younger me playing this game back in the day. It's so amazing it’s been made into an actual game for the PC or Mac. It is still limited but, they are improving it all the time and the character selection screen is great. You can play as Evil Abed, Troy and Abed sewn together, Pierce in his wheelchair, etc. If you liked this episode you should check it out. [edit: after just playing the game for the first time in a long time I have to take back the "limited" comment. It is awesome. They have really been working on it. When I said limited I meant in the earlier version it was a perfect representation of the characters and game world but, you couldn't do much and not all of the areas had been created yet, now it is just great so many amazing references and Easter eggs.] Back to the plot of the episode, Pierce’s Dad was a terrible human being. Not only was he a racist, he denied his illegitimate child who loved him dearly and dictated that his son had to win a video game he’s never played in order to get his inheritance. No wonder Pierce is so screwed up. Abed falling in love with a video game character, building an empire and having millions of babies was cool. Cool cool cool. He had so many they were throwing the babies with pick axes at the big boss at the end. Overall, I thought this was a great example of the show’s inventiveness.

Top 5 Favorite Dean Costumes
The Dean is one of my favorite characters. He is the Tobias Fünke of Community but, more compassionate. He just wants to make everyone happy especially the Greendale Seven and when an elaborate scheme goes awry he feels like this.
Dean Pelton, played by Oscar winning screenwriter Jim Rash, loves to make an entrance. That being said, I couldn’t just put descriptions or pictures here. So, I’ve included this video montage of (just about) every costume the Dean has worn and I’ll list my five favorites in the order they appear in the video (sorry, couldn't embed that one).
The Duali-Dean of Man
This gets an A for effort which is not meant as an insult because this costume is awesome. Of course the rest are fabulous too but, this wins primarily for the aftermath seen below.
"I have to go to the bank today."

Favorite Troy and Abed End Tag
You have to believe
I may have done some damage there.
I had to use random.org to pick this because I love all six (end tags are short so they get an extra). It was a great pick though. I love the effort Abed put into this and I love that Troy believed him. Troy's face when Abed reveals he was pretending is so sad, poor Troy. Please vote for your favorite Troy and Abed End Tag.
With all that going for it, I'm sure Community will be back on the air soon. If not the fan base will go crazy town banana pants.
